Background

Founded by Jordi Mestre, NOMAD began as a London coffee cart in 2011 before moving to Barcelona, where NOMAD Coffee Lab opened in 2014 and helped spark the city’s specialty wave. From the start the philosophy has been clear and consistent: producer first sourcing, single origin lots, classic processing as the backbone, and light roasting that emphasizes sweetness, clarity, and place. Education and openness are part of the identity, with recipes, classes, and service designed to make the coffees easy to understand and brew well. As the project grew from the Lab to Roaster’s Home and later the Cal Nomad headquarters in Poblenou, that same approach shaped each space, linking transparent buying to tasting led service and steady, origin driven cups. Their Coffee Bar in Barcelona is a destination in itself, widely considered among the best anywhere for its focused menu, attentive service, and pure, origin first presentation.
