Founded in Falkenberg in 2019 by Beatriz (a sommelier) and Daniel (an aircraft technician), Swerl began as a 1972 Mercedes mobile coffee bar by the beach, serving Scandinavian specialty roasters before moving into its own production on a Giesen in 2022. The philosophy is producer first and seasonal, with clearly identified single origin lots and light, precise roasting aimed at sweetness, clarity, and place. After a period in Lisbon working within specialty coffee, the team returned to Sweden, scaled the roastery, added quality control tools like a color sorter, and in 2024 was ranked among the Top 100 Specialty Coffee Roasters; in March 2025 they took second place at Nordic’s Best Roasters. In mid 2025 Swerl moved into a new harbour area facility in Falkenberg, and a coffee bar is currently under construction to connect roasting and service under one roof.
